The great seasonal wardrobe transition, it seems, is gone baby gone. Instead, we’re curating intelligent, multipurpose clothing edits that will see us through the whole year, whatever the weather. Some call it pan-seasonal but really it’s basically pieces that can mostly go back to each other i.e, a capsule wardrobe and this mentality is finally starting to hit the fashion world.
The shift is very much in response to buyer’s changing shopping habits . A seasonal wardrobe is no longer desired, required or feasible. For a lot of people, it’s a case of space and practicality. While we would love the luxury of a walk-in closet that could hold four seasons of clothes, the reality is that most buyer’s storage options are limited. Small spaces definitely make you considerate of your shopping choices; if something is only going to work for six weeks a year, it’s going to be taking up too much real estate in your closet for 10.5 months.
What is the ideal seasonless wardrobe? Well, it’s not prescriptive. It’s about finding pieces, colors, cuts and fabrics that work for you. It’s also about learning to look at pieces in a different way and building a wardrobe in which each piece has multiple uses; like a capsule wardrobe. Shoppers have spoken and designers are listening.
- Try to use the seasonless approach extending into even special-occasion pieces:
- I don’t like buying special occasion wear that can’t be styled for everyday use. If you can’t layer a dress with a chunky knit or turtleneck, it’s not worth its price. Thankfully, high-street brands are responding to the demand, too, and a new wave of labels are emerging to serve an audience that is saying no to crazy trends, and yes to functional and timeless pieces.
- Teaching clients to buy pieces not to just wear for one season or one occasion is really important to me. It really adds value to the purchase knowing that you’ve got an item that you can keep in your wardrobe arsenal, no matter the season.

***TRENDS***
So when looking at the current trends, how do you go about choosing the right pieces to create a season-less wardrobe that is BEST FOR YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE?
First, let’s go through the bulk of this season’s trends and we will move on to discussing how to find your own style, capsule wardrobes etc
Leopard– A Timeless print- it gets reinvented every single fall –
1) would you wear it?
2)and what would be the best piece to get that will last more than one season?
FLORALS AND PYTHON-these prints are timeless as well just be careful not to purchase anything too trendy
Denim Jacket– definitely a staple as long as it doesn’t scream trendy. (as in covered in sequins or fringe) Could you wear it to work? Possibly get a denim blazer?or would it be a great piece for cooler days?
The Suit Trend is huge because the Blazer is back baby!–the new idea of the suit is for it to have many different purposes. To be able to wear the blazer alone with other matching pieces and same with the pant. This way you have tons of wardrobe options!
Metallics and Sequins- Now what used to be saved for special occasions are a typical piece to wear during the day. Wear them simply as a stripe down the side of a jean or a full on sequin tee or metallic trimmed denim
The Athleisure trend not going anywhere-which is a great thing! For many reasons…DOES ANYONE WORK OUT OF THEIR HOME? Part time moms, women who work out of the house and even for work depending on your office sneakers are getting more and more chic. You could get away with a dress and chic sneaks so some 5 pocket pants and blazer and sneaks as well.
RACER STRIPES- don’t spend much but they are cute on denim, skirts, etc
Western Chic-I’m not a fan of this look clothing wise bc it looks too trendy, but really loving the western inspired booties and boots out there! I have a couple pairs of boots that have been in my closet for years bc they were such a good purchase! ( Golden Goose boots)
Pastels and Jewel tones all season every season– now it seems that any color that used to be spring is ok for fall and vice versa for spring/summer THE KEY IS TO FIND YOUR COLOR. ONE THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS COMPLIMENT YOU ON
White All Year Long–
White skirts, white denim, white pants, white skinny cords and velvet, white booties-white everything is all good throughout winter!

***STYLETIPS***
*** Think of how you want your clients, friends , etc to perceive you. How do you want to brand yourself?
***Have you ever bought a top bc you loved it but were bummed when you later found out that it came in your favorite color? INVESTIGATE THE WEB FIRST
***Don’t get caught up in the “idea†of a certain piece or look. you’ll buy it and never wear it.
***Before you shop for pieces for a season shop your closet so you don’t make repetitive purchases.
***Also do your own style check as in, has your style evolved or has your lifestyle changed?
***Treat python and leopard and camouflage prints as a neutral!
***Edit that closet until you can see everything you have then edit even more if need be-it will make your mornings so much easier
Aside from the trends I always like to talk to my clients about what investment pieces are right for them.
